A Caol Ila that has never been seen before. The oldest ever release of this well known Islay distillery, coming in at a staggering 50 years old!
Part of Gordon and Macphail's Private Collection range, which feature their oldest and most exceptional casks, this bottle is beautifully presented in decanter and comes with a bespoke veneered wooden gift box.
Distilled in 1968, this single cask release was matured in a refill sherry hogshead and bottled at a cask strength of 52.5%. There are only 199 bottles available worldwide of this release.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Burnished amber-gold with coppery highlights and a deep honeyed edge. A warm, inviting glow speaks of half a century in refill sherry, delivering a refined, mature hue rich with age and quiet sherried depth.
Nose
Delicate wisps of peat smoke thread through honeyed cured meats and vanilla pods. Fruitcake loaded with nuts, raisins and plump sultanas unfurls, with a keen menthol note keeping things fresh. Undertones of zesty citrus and aromatic lemongrass linger.
Palate
A refined single malt, subtle yet warming spice unfurls into raspberry, cranberry and baked apple. Thick-cut Seville orange marmalade deepens with time, while gentle sherry influences linger. Mature oak lends a drying, polished finish.
Finish
A lingering finish of smouldering bonfire embers, entwined with lemon zest and charred oak.
