The second batch of Caol Ila that has been finished in wine casks. The first batch was superb. Initially matured in 1st and refill Bourbon barrels, the whisky has then been finished in Hermitage red wine casks from the Northern Rhone in France. Bottled ata lower strength than the standard Connoisseurs Choice range (45%abv) this is one of 3708 bottles.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Golden amber with bronze-copper reflections and a faint ruby glow.
Nose
Vanilla pods entwine with wisps of light peat smoke and cured-meat char, while cranberry, raspberry and strawberry notes bloom, brightened by lemon sherbet and a hint of plum skin.
Palate
Pepper hints unfold into a tapestry of mixed spice, raspberry and blackcurrant, with a subtle chocolate edge. Beeswax and ash emerge, carrying a bright undertone of fresh orange that lingers through the finish.
Finish
An expansive, long finish where summer fruits evolve into smoky bonfire embers. Fruit sweetness softens to ash and peat, leaving a warming, resinous glow that lingers like embers fading in the night.
