Part of the 2016 Diageo Annual releases and another un-peated version of Islay's largest distillery bottled at 15 years old and at a mighty 61.5% ABV.
Needs water for me, a big and bold Caol Ila that is very different to the standard 12 year old and peated versions, well worth trying and along with the Lagavulin the best value for money of the special releases.

Colour
Deep amber with coppery highlights and a touch of mahogany
Nose
Bright tart gooseberry and lime rise above maritime coastal salt and harbour brine. Green peppers lend a crisp bite, while sooty lemon hints mingle with pine nuts or earthy almond for a lively, coastal nose.
Palate
Vibrant and verdant on the palate, with unripe pear and green apple, sharpened by green peppers and aniseed. Sooty white pepper carries a measured bite, while coastal brine pairs with zingy gooseberry and lime cordial for a bright, saline finish.
Finish
A cool menthol lift carries green fruit and coastal herbs, while sooty lime notes thread through, finishing with bold, peppery oak spice that lingers.
