Bruichladdich Black Art 4.1 Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky 23 Year Old · 1990 Vintage
Out of stock
Jim McEwan has done it again! The 4th edition of this very collectable Black Art series is now available.
Black Art 4 uses only the finest American and French oak casks, but that's all we know, in fact that's all anybody knows about this mysterious bottling (apart from Jim McEwan of course!) although i was told this edition used 6 different types of cask and included some Ex-Sauternes sweet wine casks.
A weird and wonderful cocktail of a malt, Jim McEwan has very big boots to fill when he finally retires, a masterpiece from Bruichladdich and proof that not all the whisky from Islay has to be apeat monster.

Tasting Notes
Colour
A rich, burnished amber with honey-gold highlights and coppery mahogany edges.
Nose
Dried red berries and sweet black grapes mingle with a savory cheese-and-wine note, elegant yet playful. Chocolate-lime sweets, raisin and treacle tart drift through, with lemon sorbet and ginger adding a bright, confectionary warmth to the aroma.
Palate
Red wine grape skins mingle with dark chocolate, honeycomb, salted cashews and sweet pudding wine, then waxy tropical fruit and coconut linger.
Finish
Luxurious and evolving, this finish lets sugared almonds fade into dried cranberry and red wine, then deepen with dark chocolate and raisins. A grape juice sweetness lingers alongside dark honeycomb and caramelised orchard fruits, leaving a refined, orchard-warm glow.
