The whisky is peated to around 40ppm, placing it firmly in heavily peated territory, but the style is built around balance rather than sheer intensity. Bruichladdich describes it as conceived, distilled, matured and bottled entirely on Islay, made from 100% Scottish barley, and the range is bottled without chill filtration or added colouring. From the Port Charlotte 10 Year Old to releases such as Islay Barley and older limited editions, it has become one of the clearest expressions of modern Islay peat outside the island’s older classic names.
