About Hazelburn
(HAY-zel-burn) Hazelburn is produced at Springbank Distillery in Campbeltown and takes its name from one of the town’s lost distilleries. It was first distilled at Springbank in 1997, adding a new style to a site better known for Springbank and Longrow, and the first Hazelburn bottling followed in 2005 as an 8 Year Old.
At the distillery, Hazelburn is made using all three stills, triple distilled and entirely unpeated, which gives it a lighter, creamier and more delicate style than its stablemates. The range now centres on the 10 Year Old, with regular Sherry Wood releases and other limited editions adding another side to the whisky, but the defining character remains the same: a softer, cleaner Campbeltown malt that sits slightly apart from the more oily, smoky profile many drinkers associate with Springbank.
