The Mossburn Vintage Casks range are a collection of Single Malt Scotch Whiskies each issuing from a strictly limited and select batch of casks from some of Scotland's most destinguished distilleries.
The Mossburn company of distillers and blenders will soon have a distillery in the Borders and are also the company behind the new and now operational Torabhaig distillery on Skye.
Each numbered release will only ever yield a finite number of bottles.
Releae number 3 is a small batch and cask strength Blair Athol, a South Highlands distillery in the village of Pitlochry.
Aged for 10 years in a refill Hogshead.

Bottled without any colouring or chill filtration.
Needs water for me to bring out its fruitier elements, very different to the Flora and Fauna release that is one of the few official releases from this Pitlochry based distillery that is more famous for being the home of Bell's blended scotch.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Golden amber with a warm honey glow and a faint coppery shimmer.
Nose
Victoria sponge cake, apricot jam and hot cross buns lead a warm, dessert-driven aroma of honey-nut cereal, barley squash, lemon cheesecake and toasted oak. A comforting sweetness frames subtle citrus zest and grainy depth, with water bringing out herbal and mineral notes that sharpen the complexity.
Palate
Hot oat cereal with cream, lemon sponge and sugared almonds on toasted straw. Water lifts orchard fruit, waxy citrus and herbal honey, revealing a bright, balanced mid-palate with subtle sweetness and refinement.
Finish
Bright and lasting, the finish presents gooseberry fool with toasted spices, followed by lime marmalade and honey on toasted cereal, and a hint of lemongrass.
