Ardmore Mossburn Vintage Cask Batch #6 Whisky 9 Year Old · 2008 Vintage
Out of stock
The Mossburn Vintage Casks range are a collection of Single Malt Scotch Whiskies each issuing from a strictly limited and select batch of casks from some of Scotland's most destinguished distilleries.
The Mossburn company of distillers and blenders will have a distillery in the Borders soon and are also the company behind the new and now operational Torabhaig distillery on Skye.
Each numbered release will only ever yield a finite number of bottles.
Release number 6 is a small batch Ardmore, one of the few Highland malts to be peated.
Aged for 9 years in American oak barrels that have previously held Islay single malt for added layers of peat smoke.
Distilled 2008 Bottled 30/11/2017 Bottled without any colouring or chill filtration.
A funky coastal style peated Ardmore (for me one of the real gems of the lesser known distilleries) that is going to appeal to those who like a Ledaig or oily Islay malt.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber-gold with coppery sheen and a honeyed, sun-kissed glow.
Nose
Grungy and vegetal, with sauerkraut, oily brine and coastal salt. Smoked cheese and cured meats mingle with hints of fishing ropes, anchovy essence and smoked lime, while sooty peat lingers with delicate floral nuances.
Palate
Vegetal to begin, with preserved peppers in olive oil, opening to wet earth and smoked lime pickle. An oily body threads smoky green fruit—apple cores and ripe pear—through with caraway-sauerkraut spice. Heather and gorse smoulder on a bonfire, leaving a salty tang and a subtle mineral bite to linger.
Finish
Sooty vanilla, smoked peppers in anchovy oil, dunnage warehouse, mossy and herbal, lime cordial, some late green fruit and peppery spice.
