This 1998 Ardmore spent most of its life in a refill hogshead before a final period in a second fill sherry hogshead, then was bottled at 27 years old and 52.8% ABV. It is a deeply old-style Ardmore, full of peat, wax, pepper and mineral character, with a profile that feels distinctly traditional and wonderfully characterful. The sherry influence adds extra depth without pulling it away from that dry, smoky, old-school Highland style.

Nose
Soft, drying peat smoke with pepper and tar; waxy undertones, plus hints of aniseed and camphor.
Palate
Dryer, fuller, taut peat smoke frames a waxy, mineral-oil mouthfeel, threaded with hessian, medicinal notes and a whisper of farmyard.
Finish
Long, drying, mineral and waxy, with lingering peat smoke and dried honey.
