Distilled in 2008 and bottled in 2021, this 13-year-old Ardmore was released by Wemyss Malts as part of their single cask series. Matured in oak and bottled at a natural 59% ABV, the cask yielded 201 bottles. The name “Tuxedo Black” follows Wemyss Malts’ practice of naming each cask after the character of the whisky found within.
Ardmore Distillery, located in the eastern Highlands and founded in 1898, is known for producing a distinctive peated Highland style, combining gentle smoke with a malty backbone and subtle sweetness. The distillery’s spirit often balances earthy peat with notes of honey, spice and orchard fruit.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep, dark amber with mahogany undertones and a glossy, chestnut glow.
Nose
Fragrant, delicate smoke, like smouldering heather, rises with a subtle sweetness of almonds. When water is added, a hint of linseed oil and putty threads into the aroma, widening the spectrum.
Palate
At natural strength, it opens with surprising sweetness, then reveals a distinctly salty edge, with fragrant smoke lingering on the finish.
Finish
Robust, with a lasting, smoky finish that carries a maritime saltiness and a whisper of sweetness. When water joins, bright acidity emerges and softens the salt, leaving a cleaner, more lifted finish that lingers with subtle smoke.
