Distilled in 2008 and bottled in 2021, this 13-year-old Ardmore was released by Wemyss Malts as part of their single cask series. Matured in oak and bottled at a natural 59% ABV, the cask yielded 201 bottles. The name “Tuxedo Black” follows Wemyss Malts’ practice of naming each cask after the character of the whisky found within.
Ardmore Distillery, located in the eastern Highlands and founded in 1898, is known for producing a distinctive peated Highland style, combining gentle smoke with a malty backbone and subtle sweetness. The distillery’s spirit often balances earthy peat with notes of honey, spice and orchard fruit.

Tasting Notes
Nose
The smoky notes are fragrant and delicate, like smouldering heather. Sweet almonds are also discernible. When water is added, a light linseed oil and putty scent joins the mélange.
Palate
The taste at natural strength is surprisingly sweetto start, then unusually salty, with fragrant smoke in the finish.
Finish
Robust. Water brings out a light acidity and reduces the saltiness.
