Out of stock
A rare 1978 vintage Ardbeg bottled by Gordon and Macphail for their legendary Connoisseurs Choice label. This particualr incarnation has the 'Map label' design and we believe this would have been bottled in the late 1990's, so this would be around a 20 Year Old bottling.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber with golden-honey highlights and coppery undertones.
Nose
Piercing coastal peat and medicinal smoke, with iodine and sea-salt. Beneath a brisk campfire, sherry notes unfold—dark fig, raisin, cocoa—woven with polished oak and vanilla. Bright, briny, and smoky, this nose is elegant yet rugged, finishing with a lingering, warm ash.
Palate
Concentrated peat and coastal smoke ride a subtle sweetness of dried fruit and vanilla. Notes of iodine, tar and sea-salt emerge, then soften into lemon zest and dark chocolate, carried by a creamy, medium-bodied mouthfeel. A long, warming finish unfolds with smoky oak, peppery spice and lingering maritime echoes.
Finish
Long, coastal finish of peated smoke with a delicate sherry sweetness that lingers. Dried fig, cocoa nib, and a whisper of orange zest weave through the ember-soft peat, leaving a sea-sprayed, resinous warmth that slowly fades to quiet, soot-kissed smoke.
