Another corking Cadenhead's bottling, this time a 32 (yup 32!) year old Ardbeg. Gold in colour and quite woody, sooty and varnishy on the nose. The palate is stunning. Concentrated, resinous and very medicinal. There's alot going on, dark chocolate mints, lemon sorbet, highland toffee and subtle spices. All this from oak casks. The finish is long, salty and oily with a freshness to it that is simply heaven.

Colour
Radiant golden hue with warm honeyed amber undertones.
Nose
Woody and richly scented, with a soot-dusted edge and varnish-like sheen. Aged oak and resin give a polished smoky core, hinting at the peat depth to come.
Palate
Concentrated and resinous, with a medicinal core from oak. Dark chocolate mint, lemon sorbet and Highland toffee weave through subtle spices on a mouth-coating, oily palate that lingers with a saline glow.
Finish
Long, salty, oily finish with a coastal brightness that lingers—sea-air freshness carrying subtle resin and medicinal echoes, a heavenly, clean reprise on the palate.
