Following the success of the Distillers Reserve editions of Hakushu and Yamazaki, they have decided to release an older, more exclusive limited edition of the Yamazaki single malt.
With the 2015 release Suntory decided to use some single malts aged over 20 years in sherry cask and blend it with some aged in younger bourbon barrels.
In addition; the 2014 edition has the distillery screen printed on the bottle whilst the 2015 release has an image of the stills.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Warm amber-gold with coppery highlights and a sunlit honey-bronze glow.
Nose
Opulent sherry-driven nose with dark plum, raisin and fig, lifted by orange zest and a hint of burnt sugar. Layered vanilla, toffee and almond from the bourbon cask mingle with refined oak, cinnamon and clove, finishing with a delicate note of sandalwood.
Palate
Silky and layered, this Yamazaki 2015 blends plush sherry-influenced fruit with bourbon-vanilla softness and toffee. Rich dried cherry, fig and cocoa glide over a warm oak frame, while spice and citrus lift give a bright, lingering finish.
Finish
Long, opulent finish glides across the palate with velvety sherry sweetness, revealing prunes, dried fig, orange zest, and cocoa, woven with warm spice and oak. It lingers, slowly fading to vanilla and toasted wood.
