This expression combines two sherry seasoned oak casks from 1979, delivering a single malt of distinct character with an inspiring story of two legacies bound by nature, The Macallan and Charles Rennie Mackintosh.

This single malt whisky is a unique, vibrant and complex expression that has been created to mark the age that Scottish architect, designer and artist, Charles Rennie Mackintosh reconnected with nature completely, at 46 years of age. Tropical fruits, complex wood spice and notes of antique oak are demonstrative of its age and evoke the sentiment of Mackintosh’s unique designs crafted from wood, in Scotland, many years ago.

The decanter is finished with an iconic crystal rose stopper inspired by ‘The Spirit of the Rose’ stained-glass panel by Mackintosh.

Smoky peat leads into tropical fruits and dark chocolate-covered raisins, while elegant aged oak unfolds with intricate wood spice across the palate.

Finish

An aromatic cloud of smoke lingers with vibrant, refined complexity, weaving hints of spice and antique oak. The finish unfolds slowly, leaving a persistent, elegant warmth that invites another contemplative savor.

The Macallan
Macallan was founded by Alexander Reid in 1824 on the Easter Elchies Estate above the River Spey, and it was one of the first distilleries in Scotland to become legally licensed. The name comes from the older place name “Maghellan”, combining the Gaelic magh for fertile ground with a reference to St Fillan, who was associated with the church that once stood on the estate. Easter Elchies House, which remains central to the brand’s identity, dates from around 1700 and still sits at the heart of the estate.
