The Macallan The Red Collection Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky 73 Year Old
Out of stock
The Macallan Red Collection is an exquisite range of eight remarkable and rare single malt whiskies, shaped by the actions of The Macallan's founder Alexander Reid and key characters in their history.
The Macallan Red Collection reflects theire deep respect for time, tradition and craftsmanship. It is a celebration of the rich range of reds present naturally in The Macallan - in every step of the process. The distinctive red colour weaves its way through their history, starting with the name of their founder Alexander Reid - literally “The Red”, to The Macallan’s ‘Choice Old’ range released over a century ago in 1903, through to Allan Shiach marking vintage bottles of The Macallan with a red ribbon in the 1980s.
The oak presentation box is crafted by hand in the UK, using the same sustainable European Oak Macallan use to make their casks. The box has been beautifully upholstered with sustainably sourced, soft scottish leather from our renowned partners, Bridge of Weir Leather.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Dark burnished amber with luxurious coppery highlights and mahogany depths; a poised, radiant glow that speaks of long oak maturation and sherry influence.
Nose
Effervescent and incredibly intricate, the nose unfurls a tapestry of antique oak, apricot jam and fine liquorice, with treacle tart lending warmth. Soft baked apple, nutmeg and tropical notes mingle, adding depth and sunny richness that hints at age, wood, and refined sweetness.
Palate
Initially sweet and mouth-coating, it delivers dates with bittersweet treacle toffee, a whisper of woodsmoke and subtle aromatic leafiness. A fruity, saline lift reminiscent of Palo Cortado emerges mid-palate, weaving through with elegant restraint and leaving a refined, lingering sweetness.
Finish
A lingering finish of soft tannins and subtle spice, layered with treacle and a persistent mineral bite that extends the final impression.
