Colour

Deep amber with a copper-gold glow and subtle mahogany undertones.

Nose

Opulent sherry on the nose, with ripe raisin and fig melded with orange zest and date syrup. Toasted almond, vanilla and dark chocolate weave through warm spice and polished oak, delivering a rich, venerable Macallan perfume ripe for contemplation.

Palate

Silky and full-bodied, the palate unfolds with dried fig, raisin and candied orange, lifted by dark chocolate and espresso. A luxurious sherry sweetness persists, with date, nutmeg and clove, while oak tannins and polished wood carry a long, refined finish.

Finish

An exquisitely long, opulent finish that unfolds in waves of raisin and fig, wrapped in dark chocolate and citrus zest. Spiced through with cinnamon and nutmeg, the velvety oak and sherry sweetness linger softly, slowly fading to a warm, resinous fade.

The Macallan
Macallan was founded by Alexander Reid in 1824 on the Easter Elchies Estate above the River Spey, and it was one of the first distilleries in Scotland to become legally licensed. The name comes from the older place name “Maghellan”, combining the Gaelic magh for fertile ground with a reference to St Fillan, who was associated with the church that once stood on the estate. Easter Elchies House, which remains central to the brand’s identity, dates from around 1700 and still sits at the heart of the estate.
