Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber with a warm copper-gold glow and a hint of mahogany.
Nose
Opulent sherry sweetness with aged depth: raisins, dried fig and orange zest mingle with rich caramel and toffee. Velvet hints of dark chocolate, almond and leather drift through, underpinned by polished oak and subtle spice. An elegant, timeless aroma that evokes luxury travel and the Lalique decanter.
Palate
Silky, full-bodied on the palate, this 1940 Macallan unfurls layers of figs and prunes with dried orange zest, braided with treacle, polished oak and dark chocolate. Rich sherry depth coats the mid-palate, releasing warm spices—cinnamon, nutmeg—into a long, refined finish that hints at leather and tobacco, with elegant cask warmth.
Finish
Long and luxurious, the finish lingers with sherried sweetness—dark fig and raisin notes woven with cocoa, orange zest and spice, fading to regal oak and a refined, velvety warmth.
