The Macallan Speymalt Single Malt Scotch Whisky 68 Year Old · 1945 Vintage
Out of stock
Gordon & MacPhail have been purveyors of fine goods across three centuries and, over many years, have built up and nurtured special relationships with local producers. Among these are several local whisky distilleries in the Speyside region from whom they purchase new-make spirit to be matured in their own oak casks.
However, there is only one distillery for which they reserve the title ‘Speymalt from Macallan Distillery’.
Established in 1824 and situated overlooking the fishing beats on the River Spey, the Macallan Distillery produces a wonderfully complex spirit, which they then carefully mature in quality oak casks ordered specifically for the ‘Speymalt from Macallan Distillery’ range.
Each bottling carries the vintage of distillation and the year of bottling, capturing an exceptionally mature single malt whisky.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Luxuriously dark amber, with copper-gold highlights and mahogany undertones.
Nose
Opulent sherry notes open to dried fig, raisin and candied orange, with baked apple and walnut. Rich cocoa, toffee and mocha deepen the aroma, while polished oak bears leather and tobacco and a whisper of spice. Clove and cinnamon weave with vanilla-scented sandalwood, leaving a long, refined Speyside warmth on the nose.
Palate
Silky, full-bodied on the palate with a honeyed sweetness and refined sherry lift. Dried orange, fig and dark raisin mingle with toasted almond and dark chocolate, while hints of saffron and warm spice unfold against a velvety, oak-driven backbone. Long, dignified finish carries cocoa, leather and a suggestion of balsam.
Finish
Long, refined finish that lingers with dried fig and raisin, orange zest, cocoa and cinnamon, all braided with rich sherry and oak. Silky, persistent and elegant.
