Colour

Deep burnished amber with copper-gold highlights and a refined mahogany edge.

Nose

Opulent and composed, the nose unfolds with rich sherry sweetness—dark raisin and fig, candied orange, and toffee weaving with vanilla and roasted almond. Layered spice—cinnamon and clove—lingers with polished oak, leather, and cocoa, hinting at decades in the cask.

Palate

Silky, opulent and deeply sherried, the palate unfurls dried fig and raisin, orange zest, toffee and dark chocolate. Spiced notes of cinnamon, clove and nutmeg weave through a velvety oak frame, delivering a long, refined finish of cocoa, leather and treacle with warm, lingering elegance.

Finish

An enduring, velvety finish: dried fruits and orange zest give way to cocoa and espresso, framed by refined spice—cinnamon and clove. Rich oak and a hint of leather linger, with raisin sweetness riding a warm, sherry-coated glow.

The Macallan
Macallan was founded by Alexander Reid in 1824 on the Easter Elchies Estate above the River Spey, and it was one of the first distilleries in Scotland to become legally licensed. The name comes from the older place name “Maghellan”, combining the Gaelic magh for fertile ground with a reference to St Fillan, who was associated with the church that once stood on the estate. Easter Elchies House, which remains central to the brand’s identity, dates from around 1700 and still sits at the heart of the estate.
