Colour

Deep amber with copper-gold highlights and mahogany undertones.

Nose

Honey, bright lemon citrus and a gentle veil of peat and oak underpin a robust floral bouquet, yielding a warm, inviting aroma.

Palate

On the palate, dried fruits—raisins and figs—dominate, with persistent peat smoke weaving through a rich, sherry-kissed sweetness. A full, velvety texture carries warm spice and toasted oak, winding to a lengthy finish of treacle, prunes and cloves.

Finish

Treacle toffee, cloves and prunes linger in a long, elegant finish. A classic expression of a well aged first-fill Spanish oak sherry cask, lending warm sweetness and a nuanced, mellow spice coat.

The Macallan
Macallan was founded by Alexander Reid in 1824 on the Easter Elchies Estate above the River Spey, and it was one of the first distilleries in Scotland to become legally licensed. The name comes from the older place name “Maghellan”, combining the Gaelic magh for fertile ground with a reference to St Fillan, who was associated with the church that once stood on the estate. Easter Elchies House, which remains central to the brand’s identity, dates from around 1700 and still sits at the heart of the estate.
