Tasting Notes

Colour

Deep copper-amber with mahogany depth and golden honey highlights that glow in the glass.

Nose

A refined nose of honeyed orchard fruits—pears and apples—paired with dried apricot and raisin, layered with polished oak, vanilla, and a whisper of cocoa and spice.

Palate

Silky and refined, with sherry-influenced sweetness. Dark fig and prune mingle with orange zest, roasted almond and cocoa. Subtle spice—cinnamon and clove—threads through polished oak, delivering a balanced, long, warm finish with gentle nutty depth.

Finish

Long and refined, the finish lingers in sherry-tinged warmth—raisins, fig and dark chocolate mingling with toasted almond as spice and orange zest unfold. Oak recedes to a velvety warmth that coats the palate with a polished, lingering perfume.

Speyside Distillery was the long-held vision of George Christie, who bought the site in 1962 and spent decades developing it from an old barley mill near Drumguish. Although the buildings were completed in 1987, distillation did not begin until 12 December 1990, giving the distillery a relatively modern start despite its older-looking setting and traditional appearance.
