Tasting Notes

Colour

Rich burnished amber with copper-gold highlights and a deep mahogany glow.

Nose

Rich sherry notes lead the aroma: dried figs and prunes, orange zest and burnt sugar, layered with walnut and vanilla. Toasted oak creaks beneath caramel and cocoa, finishing with a warm spice glow.

Palate

Silky and substantial on the palate, this sherry-cask whisky layers dark fruit and caramel with a lush richness. Raisin and fig mingle with cocoa, vanilla and toasted oak, while gentle spice (clove, nutmeg) threads through the mid-palate. Finishes warm and lingering, with a coffee-kissed echo and a soft, elegant sweetness.

Finish

Long, warming finish with toasted oak, dark fruit, and a kiss of sherry that lingers softly, leaving a refined, reassuring sweetness and a whisper of spice.

Bell’s traces its roots to Arthur Bell, a Perth wine and spirits merchant who began vatting malt whiskies together in 1851 to create a more consistent blended Scotch. The “Extra Special” trademark was registered in 1895 and later appeared with the Bell’s name in 1904, becoming the basis of the long-running Bell’s blend. Blair Athol, founded in 1798, became closely tied to the brand after Arthur Bell & Sons acquired the distillery in 1933.
