A limited release New Zealand single malt from Scapegrace, Release VI: Fortuna was matured in virgin French oak and bottled at 46% ABV, with an outturn of around 10,000 bottles. The whisky was produced using New Zealand-grown barley as part of the distillery’s grain-to-glass approach.
Virgin French oak maturation adds pronounced spice, toasted sweetness and structured oak, complementing Scapegrace’s naturally clean, fruit-forward spirit and creating a bold, modern expression that reflects the distillery’s experimental style.

Nose
Spiced vanilla and toasted oak from virgin French cask rise above a clean, fruit-forward core. Cinnamon and clove mingle with honeyed orchard fruit and citrus zest, edged by a subtle smokiness and a whisper of sweet oak—creating a bold, inviting aroma.
Palate
Spice-forward palate with vanilla-tinged toasty oak and a soft sweetness. Bright apple and pear fruit ride atop baking spices—cinnamon, clove, nutmeg—while the virgin French oak provides structure. Creamy yet poised, it finishes warm with lingering spice and oak.
