A limited release New Zealand single malt from Scapegrace, Release V: Fortitude was produced using Manuka-smoked malted barley and matured for around three years in virgin French oak before bottling at 46% ABV.
Virgin French oak maturation gives pronounced spice, toasted oak and vanilla sweetness, while the Manuka-smoked malt contributes a gentle, herbal smoke that is distinctive to New Zealand whisky. The result is a bold but balanced expression combining light smoke, fruit and oak-driven depth in a modern, characterful style.
