Raasay Na Sia Peated Single Rye Cask 7 Year Old is a limited-edition single malt Scotch whisky from the Isle of Raasay Distillery. Distilled, matured and bottled on the Hebridean island, this cask-strength release combines Raasay’s smoky peated spirit with the distinctive sweetness and spice of a single American rye whiskey cask.

The whisky forms part of the distillery’s Na Sia Single Cask Series. Meaning “the six” in Gaelic, Na Sia refers to the six components used to create Raasay’s signature single malt: peated and unpeated spirit matured separately in American rye whiskey, virgin Chinkapin oak and Bordeaux red wine casks. Bottling the components individually reveals the particular influence of each spirit and cask combination.

Maturation in an American rye whiskey cask adds caramelised sweetness, creamy vanilla and assertive peppery spice to the peated island spirit. The smoke remains at the centre of the whisky, complemented by toasted oak, dark caramel and warming rye spice. At seven years old, it offers a powerful balance between youthful peat, concentrated cask character and the depth gained from extended island maturation.

The nose opens with woodsmoke, charred oak and sweet caramel, followed by vanilla, black pepper and aromatic spice. On the palate, dense peat smoke and toasted malt meet caramelised sweetness, pepper, vanilla and warming rye-cask spice. The natural cask strength gives the whisky a rich, full-bodied texture before a long and powerful finish of smouldering smoke, dry pepper and seasoned oak.

Bottled at 60.3% ABV in a 70cl bottle, this Raasay single cask whisky is presented at natural cask strength without chill filtration or added colouring. It can be enjoyed neat for its full smoky intensity, although a small amount of water gradually opens the whisky and reveals additional sweetness, vanilla and spice.
