Benriach Malting Season 1st Edition Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky 9 Year Old · 2012 Vintage
In stock
Benriach is one of just two remaining distilleries in Speyside to distill whisky using malted barley from its own floor maltings, celebrating a tradition which started when the distillery was first founded by John Duff in 1898.
Compromised of just 23 barrels, only 6672 bottles have been made. With a beautiful barley gold Cask-imported colour, it is matured in bourbon and American Virgin Oak Casks. This gives a luxuriously nutty dram. With a phenomenal richness of character, this dram is a tribute to Benriach's founder and the slow craft of his historic maltings, all in the pursuit of exceptional flavour.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Barley-gold, warm and sun-kissed with honeyed amber highlights.
Nose
Floor-malted barley leads the aroma—biscuity, malt-forward with a delicate honeyed sweetness. Toasted almond and hazelnut mingle with vanilla from bourbon and virgin oak, while wisps of orchard fruit and warm spice add depth, creating a luxuriously nutty, richly inviting nose.
Palate
Nutty and malty on the palate, with toasted almond and hazelnut riding a creamy blanket of vanilla and caramel. Bourbon and virgin oak deliver warm spice and gentle sweetness, hinting at dried fruit and citrus zest. Luxuriously rich and velvety, it finishes long with lingering nutty tones and caramel toffee.
Finish
Long, warm finish with creamy vanilla, toasted almond and subtle bourbon oak. Nutty depth lingers, unfolding caramel and bakery-spice as the warmth slowly fades to a refined, silky oak whisper.
