This Is the first time that Port Charlotte has experimented with Pomerol casks in our cask exploration series. Pomerol is home to some of the finest and most sought-after red wines in the world and is the smallest of all the major Bordeaux wine appellations. The Versatile Port Charlotte spirit has been profoundly influenced by the flavour of the oak, with notes of black cherry, plum and aged leather.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Rich dark amber with coppery glow and mahogany undertones.
Nose
Warm peat smoke mingles with red fruits, opening to stewed pears and melon, with a delicate marine whisper. Floral notes of rose and geranium rise, joined by vanilla, honey, leather and toasted oak. As it unfolds, a subtle spice of clove and ginger and a hint of marzipan emerge.
Palate
Malt sugar and peat smoke envelope the palate with notable viscosity. The Pomerol cask influence shines through in a refined oak-and-fruit balance, as succulent blackberries and plum mingle with aged leather, leaving a warm, lingering resonance on the tongue.
Finish
Mellow marine tones, crushed seashells and a kiss of lemon rind echo the Islay voyage as Port Charlotte’s peat smoke lingers, leaving a coastal, balanced finish.
