Port Charlotte The Artful Dodger Collective Single Cask #1063 Whisky 8 Year Old · 2009 Vintage
Out of stock
A superb independant bottling of Port Charlotte Single Malt Whisky by Woolf Sung under their own Artful Dodger label. This is a cask strength, single cask 8 year old, that has been fully matured in a Sauternes cask.
This is up there with the best whiskies we've tried this year. Really opulent and fruity on the nose with apricot, nectarine, lychee and a dense savoury earthiness.
The palate is big and rich, that fruity element really hits you on arrival, before the power and smoke of this Islay whisky comes through. Chewy and textured with lots of thick smokey quality along with a damp forest flavour before the sweet fruit returns on the finish.
This whisky can take a bit of water which calms the abv down and brings out more citrus and woody notes. The finish is incredibly long and lingering.
An absolute must for any peat fan.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber-gold with coppery highlights and a sunlit sheen.
Nose
Opulent, fruit-forward aroma of apricot, nectarine and lychee, punctuated by a dense savoury earthiness that grounds the perfume.
Palate
Big and rich on the palate, it opens with apricot, nectarine and lychee before a bold wave of Islay peat. Chewy and textured, with thick smoke and a damp forest undertone, the fruit returns on the long finish. Water tempers the ABV, releasing citrus and oak and extending the finish to a luxurious, lingering conclusion.
Finish
An incredibly long, lingering finish in which sweet fruit reappears as thick smoke and peat gently fade. Apricot and nectarine give way to citrus peel, while a damp forestiness lingers—a warm, resinous echo that persists into the final, softly smoky fade.
