Clynelish famously has a waxy citrus flavour-profile, allegedly because the distillery workers didn’t clean the feints receiver between the pair of copper pot stills all too regularly. That may be true, or maybe they were too busy trying to find the casks the Artful Dodger had purloined to remember to clean it. All we know is that this waxy little number tastes sublime and the secret ingredient may or may not be crime.

Nose
Bright citrus oils—orange zest and lemon rind—rise on a waxy, polished sheen. The waxy profile threads through delicate citrus blossom with vanilla from mature oak, while a soft sherry lift hints at dried fruit and cocoa. A coastal brightness lingers, like candle-wax glistening on sea air.
Palate
Waxily silky on the palate, it releases bright citrus oils—orange zest and lemon rind—over a creamy beeswax base. Sherry-driven sweetness of figs and raisins mingles with vanilla and gentle spice. The mouthfeel is lush and slightly oily, with a saline edge and a lingering citrus glow.
Finish
Long, waxy citrus lingers, beeswax and lemon rind coating the palate before slowly giving way to warm oak and a subtle spice, leaving a refined, honeyed warmth that persists.
