Port Askaig Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky 14 Year Old
Out of stock
A new release from Port Askaig, a range of secret Islay single malts that embodies the unique spirit of Islay.
A small batch release distilled in 2004 and matured in just eleven first fill Ex-Bourbon barrels and is a rare peated version from a distillery in the north-east corner of Islay better known for its unpeated expressions. Its character, however , still hints at its signature rich, sweet style.
A very creamy Bun..Port Askaig! like enjoying a bag of vanilla fudge purchased from an Islay sweet shop whilst paddling in a mossy coastal rock pool.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep golden amber with coppery highlights and a warm, honeyed glow.
Nose
Mossy rock pools and coastal herb gardens offer a fresh, floral nose, with sea spray pervading the breeze. Stewed apple mingles with sooty-ashy vanilla wood smoke, while grassy notes meet celery salt and lime cordial, finishing with a touch of salted nut fudge and a bright, coastal snap.
Palate
Green apples and pears greet the palate, lifted by peppery, sooty peat. A creamy body coats the mouth with lime-curd brightness, while star anise spice adds depth. Earthy chocolate notes mingle with whispers of angelica and raisin fudge, finishing long, polished, and lightly peppery.
Finish
Fragrant moss and coastal smoke give way to chocolate-lime sweets and poached pears in star-anise–infused syrup. Fresh and clean, with lingering white pepper and salted vanilla cream soda.
