The latest bottle in the "Moment" series from Sweden's leading whisky distillery, Mackmyra.
The 'Malstrom', which translates as Vortex, is aged in very small 30 litre casks made from a variety of different wood types and is made using smoked malt (typical whisky casks range from 200 litres up to over 400 litres). The use of such small casks encourages faster maturation of the spirit and greater extraction of flavour and colour from the wood.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep golden amber with coppery undertones.
Nose
Smoked green rhubarb with gooseberry jam takes the lead, interwoven with clove spice and floral notes; lavender honey and elderflower cordial lend a perfumed sweetness, while pears in syrup, juniper and pink grapefruit provide crisp lift.
Palate
Smoked gorse and heather lift the palate with elderflower honey, grapefruit and lime cordial. Smoked lemon curd threads through a green pear core, over a note of summer meadows, leaving a refined, lingering smoke.
Finish
A delicate, aromatic smoke lingers, mingling with floral and herbal notes—elderflower, lime curd and ripe pear.
