Mackmyra Frihet / Freedom Collection 03: Skoredtid Swedish Single Malt Whisky (1 Litre)
In stock
Mackmyra Skördetid was partially finished in Masi Costera Amarone wine casks, resulting in a whisky with sweet, vinous notes of red grape, raisin, and with a herbal spiciness.
Skördetid, which is Swedish for “harvest time”, is the result of close collaboration between Mackmyra and the Italian wine producer Masi, and is available in limited quantities.
This is the first time Mackmyra have presented a seasonal whisky with a Masi Amarone cask finishing. Using the wine to set the tone, Skördetid has a soft and spicy character that is suited to autumn and winter.
The whisky was initially matured in the Bodås mine in Sweden in Mackmyra casks between 2008 and 2012, and subsequently (a high proportion of the whisky) spent a final six months of finishing in Masi casks.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber with a coppery glow and garnet-red reflections.
Nose
Spicy raisin fudge leads into dried cherry, black grape jelly and aromatic tobacco. Fruity liquorice, forest fruits, vanilla extract and a delicate whiff of an Italian winery weave a warm, vinous bouquet.
Palate
Luxuriant, grapey palate with a medley of berries—red grapes, black cherries and forest fruits—layered with raisin fudge. Aromatic spice laces through, joined by red liquorice, sour cherry sweets and a kiss of sweet tobacco, finishing with pear frangipane and a lingering, orchard-spiced sweetness.
Finish
Long and luxurious, the finish lingers with rum and raisin fudge, a chorus of red and black berries, and aromatic cherry jam. Peppery oak threads weave through red grape tannins, leaving a lasting kiss of sweet spice.
