Rare as hens teeth this one. An independant bottling of Lochside, a long since silent Highland distillery (closed in 1992) by the Scotch Malt Whisky Society - 'Cod liver and blackcurrants' was matured in a refill sherry butt and was one of 584 bottled released from this cask.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber with coppery highlights and a mahogany edge, glowing with a warm, ruby-tinted sheen.
Nose
Opulent, sherry-kissed, the nose blooms with blackcurrant and fig, tempered by a savory thread of cod liver oil. Leather, dark chocolate and toasted almond unfold as it gains depth, finished with a kiss of cocoa and spice.
Palate
Opulent and warming, the palate carries sherry-driven richness with savory depth. Deep blackcurrant, fig and plum unfold with cocoa, toffee and a hint of treacle, while a briny cod‑liver note lends maritime intrigue. Spices and polished oak lift the finish, with a whisper of nutmeg. At 61% ABV the mouthfeel is lush and long, delivering dried-fruit sweetness and warming resilience.
Finish
Long and luxurious, the finish unfolds with sherry warmth and dark fruit, a cocoa whisper and a touch of salt. Blackcurrant lingers, while spice, leather and toasted nut fade to a dry, refined end.
