Lochside (silent) Duncan Taylor Blended Scotch Whisky 61 Year Old · 1964 Vintage
Out of stock
Distilled in 1964 and bottled in 2025 at 45.8% ABV, this rare 61-year-old Highland blended Scotch from the now-silent Lochside distillery was drawn from sherry oak casks and released by Duncan Taylor as a limited decanter-style edition. Lochside closed in 1992 and the site was demolished in 1999, making bottles from its older stocks exceptionally collectible.
Sherry cask ageing over six decades integrates deep dried fruit richness, warm spice and oak structure with the distillery’s classic body and character, offering a complex, layered profile that speaks to both age and the finesse of old Highland whisky.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep, dark amber with rich mahogany hues and a coppery glow.
Nose
Astonishingly rich and fresh, with forest fruits—wild strawberry, raspberry and brambles—layered with liqueur-filled chocolates, vintage leather, old sherry and a subtle touch of aged soy sauce.
Palate
Fresh and vibrant for such an old whisky, the palate delivers a dense, moderately fruity core with pronounced oak and a veil of sweetness. Spices bloom—cardamom, cloves, cinnamon—while an earthy rancio adds cognac-like depth. A warm, long finish with balanced richness and refined complexity.
Finish
Tremendously long and warming, without any excess tannins or dryness. The finish lingers with liqueur-rich dark fruits and chocolates, threaded by balanced spices—cardamom, cloves, cinnamon—gently evolving into layered, oak-borne warmth that grows with depth and power.
