Single Cask

A single grain Strathclyde from The Octave series, this 35 year old was distilled in 1990 and matured in an Oloroso sherry octave cask before bottling at 45.7% ABV.

Octave casks, much smaller than traditional sherry casks, intensify wood interaction and concentrate flavour. The Oloroso maturation brings rich dried fruit sweetness, nutty depth and gentle spice to Strathclyde’s smooth, creamy grain character, adding layered richness and mature oak influence developed over extended ageing.

Tasting Notes: Toasted grain sweetness meets rich sherry depth, with fig, almond, and soft spice rounding out a silky finish.

Strathclyde
(strath-CLYDE) Strathclyde was founded in Glasgow in 1927 by London distiller Seager Evans, on the site of an old cotton mill in the Gorbals. It was originally built to produce neutral grain spirit for gin, before moving into Scotch whisky after Seager Evans bought the Long John brand in 1936. The distillery later gained an unusual extra chapter in its history when the Kinclaith malt distillery operated within the same site from 1957 to 1975.
