Our seasonal small batch releases showcase the signature Lochlea style in four different ways each year. As a working farm, these expressions tie-in with exactly what is happening here at that time of year.
In this Ploughing Edition (Second Crop) for 2023 – the fourth in a new set of four limited editions – we have used 100% ex-Islay Barrels. The main differences from Ploughing Edition (First Crop) this year are the focus on solely 200 litre barrels, and further ageing in our on-site warehouse.

Colour
Rich amber-gold with a coppery sheen and a hint of mahogany.
Nose
Fresh green apple with Lochlea’s signature cereal grain; bright, grain-forward aroma with a hint of malt sweetness. Crisp, inviting, like sunlit orchards and farm-fresh barley.
Palate
Succulent fruit, freshly cut summer hay.
Finish
Sea salt lingers, with peaty embers smoldering softly, delivering a maritime finish that slowly fades to a warm, smoky echo.
