The seasonal small batch release showcasing Lochlea's whisky in four different ways each year. As a working farm, these expressions tie-in with exactly what is happening at Lochlea.
In this Fallow Edition for 2022 they have used 100% fresh 1st fill Oloroso Sherry Butts directly from Jerez Spain. Autumn on the farm is when the fields are given time to recover after harvest and the crisp gold and purple leaves cover the ground. Therefore Lochlea has developed a dark, rich whisky to warm us up as temperatures start to fall. It first opens up with ripe red fruits and freshly backed warm banana loaf. Then some dried fruit and leathery notes appear, alongside malt biscuits. The finish is medium-length, with hints of aniseed and moreish floral rose petals.
