Littlemill is a lost distillery which was previously sited at Bowling, just outside Dumbarton. In 1823, Mrs Jane MacGregor became the licensee, making her the first female licensee in the world. Littlemill fell silent in 1994; it was dismantled in 1997 and a fire destroyed any remains in 2004. Littlemill Whisky is becoming increasingly rare, with occasional official bottlings from the brand's current owners Loch Lomond Group.
Littlemill was known for an attractive floral and grassy single malt. The light and delicate nature was typical of the Lowlands with notes of apple blossom, subtle cereals, and zesty lemon.
