Cask Strength Single Cask

This is a particulary interesting Whisky from the Glenglassaugh Distillery. Matured for seven years in a traditional American oak cask, then a finishing period in a Banyuls dessert wine barrique. On the nose there are aromas of gingerbread and prunes with delicious sweet spices. It coats the mouth with sweet caramel with raisins, toffee and black cherries. The finish is long lasting - more ginger, caramel and spices.

Tasting Notes

Colour

Rich copper-amber with a ruby-tinted edge and a warm honey-gold core.

Nose

Gingerbread and prunes take the lead on the nose, wrapped in luscious sweet spices that glow with a warm, inviting perfume.

Palate

Coats the palate with luxuriously sweet caramel, toffee, raisins and black cherries, carried by a Banyuls dessert-wine glow. Gingerbread spice and warming baking notes weave through the mid-palate, finishing long with ginger, caramel and layered spice.

Finish

Long, warming finish with ginger spice, caramel sweetness and lingering spice notes, slowly fading into a velvety, dessert-wine glow.

(Glen-GLASS-uh) Glenglassaugh was founded in 1875 near Sandend on the Aberdeenshire coast by James Moir and his nephews. Its history has been unusually stop-start, with long silent periods during the 20th century before production resumed in 2008 after a major revival. The distillery later joined the BenRiach company in 2013, before becoming part of Brown-Forman in 2016 alongside Benriach and GlenDronach.
