A single cask release from The Creative Whisky Company under "The Exclusive Malts" range of Independent bottlings and rather unusually labeled as "Ledaig" distilled at Tobermory distillery so expect more smoke and peat with this release as this was distilled in 1996 when heavily peated distillation was re-introduced.
Aged for 21 years in a single Refill Sherry Hogshead that yielded just 249 bottles and bottled at cask strength of 51.1% ABV.
Colour coded on the label as "Earthy, light smoke, oily" under the flavour profile with each bottle.
A classic marmite of a whisky, i love a funky Ledaig like i love Ardbeg but some people strangely do not like either!
One for the more adventurous of Malt drinkers for sure.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Dark burnished amber with copper highlights and a mahogany-tinged, oily glow.
Nose
Beef and mushroom stew, earthy compost and smoked leather, prunes, twiglets and cured ham—an intensely umami, savory aroma with rustic, smoky depth.
Palate
Savory and nutty, true to Old Sherry-cask Ledaig: old leather, earthy forest floor and bonfire smoke; sticky dates, malt loaf with smoked butter; smoked/cured meat or salami, and a touch of sweet fig and dark honey sweetness.
Finish
A long, smoky finish with lingering notes of smoked Snickers bars and mushroom stock, layered with old leather and ripe figs, a touch of aromatic malty honey, and a final drift of lasting smoke and earthy undertones.
