This heavily peated, maritime malt from Ledaig has been elevated by exotic rum casks from Guyana. The Uitvlugt Distillery produced a rich, ester-heavy style of rum, until it closed in 2000.

Colour

Dark amber with copper-bronze hues and a sunlit mahogany shimmer.

Nose

Banana custard drifts alongside smoky apple, with salt-kissed coastal notes and a seaside orchard sweetness rising from the peated, maritime aura.

Palate

Grilled peach and pineapple mingle with sweet embers on the palate, a tropical, subtly smoky sweetness.

Finish

Oily peat lingers with tropical fruits and a faint sea spray, a maritime finish that softly fades.

(Le-Chig) Ledaig is the heavily peated single malt Scotch whisky made at Tobermory Distillery on the Isle of Mull. The name means “safe haven” and was the original name used when John Sinclair founded the distillery in 1798, making it one of Scotland’s older surviving distilling sites.
