Tobermory has had long periods of closure during its history, including much of the 19th century and a major silent period from 1930 until 1972. Today, the distillery produces two distinct styles: unpeated whisky under the Tobermory name and peated whisky under the Ledaig name.
Ledaig is known for a robust Island whisky style, combining heavy peat smoke with coastal character, earthy spice, malt sweetness and cask influence from bourbon, sherry and other maturations across different releases. Core expressions such as Ledaig 10 Year Old and Ledaig 18 Year Old show the bolder, smoky side of Tobermory Distillery while keeping a clear link to Mull’s west coast setting.
