Ledaig Macbeth Act One - Murderers Series - First Murderer Single Malt Scotch Whisky 18 Year Old
In stock
A collection of forty-two different whiskies from the length and breadth of Scotland, selected and bottled by Livingstone in partnership with Elixir Distillers. Each whisky represents a character from the Tragedy of Macbeth by William Shakespeare, with illustrations by Sir Quentin Blake and character notes by Dave Broom.
The First Murderer is one of four island whiskies in The Murderers series.
The murderers travelled from the outer reaches of Scotland, so we have turned to island whiskies: a Single Malt Scotch whisky aged 18 years distilled on the Isle of Mull for the First Murderer. None of the Murderers (or Witches) are named in the play; we have carried through to the whiskies - no distillery names, just regions, to retain the air of mystery.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Rich amber-gold with coppery warmth, deepening toward toasted mahogany at the rim as light settles in the glass.
Nose
Coastal peat and sea-salt perfume lift from the glass, with maritime iodine and smoke at the forefront. Sherry warmth threads through dark dried fruit—raisin and fig—alongside orange zest, cocoa, and toasted almond. Vanilla and oaken spice drift in the background, lending a refined, windswept aroma that hints at depth and restraint.
Palate
Full-bodied and maritime, this Ledaig delivers peat smoke with sea-salt bite, braided with sherry-soft sweetness. Dried fig, plum and cocoa mingle with roasted malt, vanilla and a touch of leather, while a peppered spine and oak depth carry through a long, warming finish.
Finish
Full, lingering finish of coastal peat and smoke, enriched by sherry sweetness. Dried fig and Christmas spice unfold over dark chocolate and coffee, while a whisper of orange zest and salted caramel drifts away on a wave of oak and brine. Long, dignified, and memorably maritime.
