This heavily peated single malt from the Tobermory distillery has been finished in ex-Oloroso Sherry casks. This whisky is bold, rich, and oily with richly sherried fruit, caramel and sweet spice complimented by masses of smoke, earth, tar, and sea salt.

Tasting Notes

Colour

Deep, burnished amber with mahogany edges and a sunset-bronze glow.

Nose

Rich, fruity sherried smokiness with a balanced kiss of phenols, seaweed and light creosote, dotted with dried chilli flakes and spicy black pepper, finishing with a touch of sweet oak.

Palate

Powerful, richly sherried and herbal, with a smoky, maritime backbone. Orange peel and coffee mingle with sea salt, tobacco and white pepper, finishing long and warmly.

Finish

A long, pungent finish that lingers with intensified smoke, a hint of liquorice and sea spray.

(Le-Chig) Ledaig is the heavily peated single malt Scotch whisky made at Tobermory Distillery on the Isle of Mull. The name means “safe haven” and was the original name used when John Sinclair founded the distillery in 1798, making it one of Scotland’s older surviving distilling sites.
