A 2005 Ledaig single malt from Elixir Distillers, matured in a single sherry butt for 14 years before being bottled in November 2019 as part of its Single Malts of Scotland series.
Aromas of orange and cloves soften the peat smoke. There is also charcoal and tarry ropes on the nose. The palate gives notes of smoked bacon, chilli, ginger and cumin. Savoury and meaty with peppercorns and lapsang souchong.

Burnished copper amber with rich mahogany undertones and a glossy honey-gold glow.
Nose
Orange zest and warm cloves soften a peat-smoked core, while charcoal and tarry rope notes lend an extra layer of rugged, maritime depth.
Palate
Smoked bacon forms the core, brightened by chilli and ginger and seasoned with cumin. Savory and meaty, it unfolds with peppercorns and lapsang souchong, delivering a bold, persistent smoky vitality on the palate.
Finish
An enduring, peaty finish: charcoal and smoke fade into savoury meatiness, peppery spice and lapsang souchong. A thread of orange zest and cloves flickers, with a gentle sherry-softened sweetness lingering as a warm, resinous sigh.
