Ledaig Single Cask #900161 Whisky 11 Year Old · 2005 Vintage
Out of stock
A wonderful single cask release from Ledaig which is a heavily peated single malt from The Tobermory distillery on the Isle of Mull.
Meaning "safe haven" and for me one of the most underated peated malts on the market and as a fan of Islay i highly recommend you get some Ledaig in your life.
Matured in a single Sherry Butt that yielded just 564 bottles, aged for 11 years and bottled at natural cask strength of 56.8%ABV.
Distilled:5/6/2005 Bottled:6/7/2016
Youthfull this may be at 11 years old but this packs a three course meal of a punch and a very complex palate and very satisfying long finish.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep burnished amber with coppery highlights and a warm, sherry-kissed mahogany core.
Nose
Smoked bacon and earthy notes sit beside waxy ripe quince, new leather and a warm ginger touch. Raisin and dark treacle weave with sherry-soaked figs and dark honey-baked smoked ham, creating a rich, savory-aromatic tapestry that hints at the peat-soaked heart.
Palate
Earthy and savoury on the palate, opening with smoked red fruits (cranberry, redcurrant) before smoked ham, mulchy forest mushrooms and leather emerge. Pink peppercorns weave with sherry wood tannins and a touch of sweetness, then a persistent, chewy peat smoke and a final spark of spicy black grapes.
Finish
Peppery oak and treacle-baked smoked ham define the finish, earthy and spicy with sherry-soaked raisins, and bright notes of pomegranate and cranberry, punctuated by ginger warmth.
