This was the only Ledaig in Distell's 2019 Limited Release series. Distilled in 1997, this 21 Year Old was initially matured in refill casks before being finished in Manzanilla hogsheads for just over 2 years. An astonishing whisky that is hugely concentrated, powerful, decadent, and complex. Bottled at a cask strength of 58.9% ABV, this is a limited release of 1602 bottles.

Colour
Dark amber with copper undertones and warm honey-gold highlights.
Nose
Powerful peat and coastal salt anchor the aroma, threaded with Manzanilla’s almondy, saline elegance. Iodine and smoke mingle with orange zest, dried fruits, and a kiss of olive oil, while waxy notes and dark chocolate hints deepen the bouquet. Rich, maritime, and decadently multi-layered, it promises a luxurious, lingering finish.
Palate
Opulent, full-bodied palate with coastal peat and sea-salt tang. Manzanilla finish delivers briny almond, dried citrus zest, and orchard fruit glaze, all wrapped in a rich, oily texture. Cocoa-dusted smoke and subtle spice linger, while the warmth from the high ABV underpins a long, decadent finish.
Finish
Long, maritime finish with briny sea air, almond and walnut nuttiness from the Manzanilla, and a hint of citrus zest. Subtle peat smoke lingers beside saline mineral notes, fading into an elegant, dry spiced warmth that coats the palate and lingers long.
