Kyro Wood Smoke is the first expression of a delicately smoked rye Whisky from Kyro distillery. Following an old northern custom, the rye has been introduced to a touch of alder smoke in a 100 year old "riihi" barn, which is basically a constant reminder of that first sauna session.
Made from 100% malted Finnish wholegrain rye, and matured in a combination of ex-Bourbon, French oak, and new American white oak barrels.

Colour
Golden amber with warm coppery hues and a sunlit bronze glow.
Nose
Delicately alder-smoked, the aroma evokes a Nordic sauna and a 100-year-old riihi barn. Malted Finnish rye and grain sweetness mingle with vanilla and toasted oak from ex-Bourbon, French oak, and new American barrels, while a subtle peppery spice threads through the fragrant smoke.
Palate
Delicate alder smoke lingers on the palate, weaving through a rich rye spine. Toasted malt, vanilla and caramel unfold with peppery spice, nutmeg and clove, while oak from ex-Bourbon, French and new American cask adds depth and elegance. The texture is silky yet slightly chewy, medium-full, warming with a refined, smoky finish that fades to ash and sweetness.
Finish
Long, evocative finish of alder smoke and warm rye spice. Vanilla, toasted oak and a touch of cocoa linger as the smoke slowly fades, leaving a dry, resinous sweetness and a final whisper of the riihi-barn aroma on the palate.
