Kavalan Distillery has been pioneering the art of single malt whisky in Yilan County, Taiwan since 2005. Kavalan sources the mineral-rich meltwaters of Snow Mountain and is aged in a unique combination of intense heat and humidity together with sea and mountain breezes. All this combines to create the quality, smoothness, and fruity character for which Kavalan is known.

Deep amber with copper-gold highlights.

Nose

Opulent tropical fruit on the nose—ripe pineapple, mango and pear—seduced by creamy vanilla and coconut from the bourbon cask. Honeyed sweetness and orange zest mingle with gentle spices (cinnamon, clove), while a subtle almond note and a kiss of coastal brine lift the aroma. Elegant oak underpinning invites a warm, resinous finish.

Palate

Opulent and full-bodied, this Kavalan Solist coats the palate with tropical fruit—pineapple and mango—alongside creamy vanilla, honey and toffee. A velvety, spice-kissed warmth from the bourbon cask lingers over toasted oak and citrus zest, finishing long and supple.

Finish

Long, resonant finish carved by vanilla, toasted oak and bourbon-spiced warmth. Tropical fruit and citrus zest rise, fading to creamy caramel with a peppery, lingering glow that invites the next sip.

Kavalan was founded in Yilan County in 2005 by King Car Group and is widely regarded as Taiwan’s first whisky distillery. The name comes from the old name of Yilan and the indigenous Kavalan people. Its first bottling, Kavalan Classic, was released in 2008, and the Solist range followed in 2009.
