This Inchgower spent the majority of its maturation in a refill hogshead before being re-racked into a single Oloroso sherry cask in July 2024, where it gained an additional layer of richness and complexity without losing its distinctive identity.
The spirit displays the wonderfully waxy texture for which Inchgower is so admired, complemented by an oily mouthfeel and a gentle peppery spice that gives the whisky its unmistakable individuality. While the distillery rarely enjoys the spotlight, careful maturation reveals a spirit of remarkable character, depth, and understated elegance.
The Oloroso cask was selected to enhance rather than overshadow the distillery character. It contributes refined notes of dried fruits, toasted nuts, and subtle baking spice, bringing additional richness and complexity while allowing the spirit's natural waxy, coastal character to remain at the fore. The result is a beautifully balanced whisky in which spirit and cask exist in perfect harmony, each elevating the other without ever competing for attention.
